Introducing the future of surgical robots.
Tetsuya Nakanishi, GM Medicaroid Europe GmbH
When friends Yasuhiko Hashimoto of Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Kaoru Asano from the medical technology company Sysmex wanted to fuse medicine and robotics, they were inspired by the work of Japanese mangaka Osamu Tezuka- they named their medical robot "Hinotori", the Japanese word for 'phoenix' for eternal life in past, present and future. Their goal: to improve the quality of surgeries and thus the health of millions of patients.
This origin of Medicaroid, based on a friendship, also guides the company's future path. Medicaroid is convinced that robots can fundamentally improve the health care system, especially surgery, without medicine losing its humanity.
With robots – like the Hinotori – that are designed to assist, facilitate and educate surgeons in their demanding and physically challenging jobs, humans can take control of surgeries even better and focus on what they are best at: making the tough decisions, executing surgery under prime conditions, supporting patients and giving them the best care.
With Hinotori, even rare surgery that must be performed by specialists becomes available in remote locations, as does access to prime education. Everybody needs help.
Medicaroid creates the robotic friends that support human experts, so they can focus on saving lives.
